Just after some people died in a boat that capsized carrying over 70 passengers, mostly farmers in Zumba of Munya Local Government Area, Niger state in April 2021, news have it that at least one hundred people have again been declared missing after a boat capsized on Malale River in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State at about 3pm yesterday May 26.

According to reports, the boat had left Malale in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger heading to Kebbi State when the incident occurred. Although as at the time of filing this report, the number of deaths is yet unknown.

Niger state over a period of time has continued to experience this incidence for a while now and reports have it that between 2019 and 2020, at least 50 people lost their lives on the Malale River following incidents of boat mishaps. May the souls of the departed rest peacefully.
