Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has revealed the reason behind his decision to join Saudi Arabia Professional Football League club, Al-Khaloood.
Troost-Ekong joined Paulo Duarte’s side from Greek Super League champions PAOK Thessaloniki in August after spending just one season at PAOK, winning the Greek Super League title with the club.
Responding to criticism of why he didn’t join a European club, Troost-Ekong said the need to secure his future prompted him to accept the offer.
“I got an offer I couldn’t turn down. I am 31, now I have to think about the big picture,” Troost-Ekong said on the Counter Attack Podcast.
“I think the Saudi Premier League is competitive, you see the names that are playing there in my first game was against Benzema, Kante, Fabinho, players that are world level.”
“But at the same time, everybody talks about the opportunity you have there to guarantee your future. I have to think about my family, kids.”
