The Suleja Local Government Area,Niger State had a security meeting on Saturday 9th May 2020 at the Local Government Secretariat to assess the Covid-19 lockdown movement restriction order.

Attendants included the Local Government Chairman, Local Government council, all security agents, religious leaders, Saudat Empowerment Foundation and other stake holders.

Complains were made that people from Kano and Kaduna State were incessantly entering the local government making Suleja prone to covid-19 attack. The Local Government council expressed concern on how residents and outsiders were not obeying the lockdown order especially motorcycle (Okada)riders.

Lack of security manpower, funds were mentioned as challenges to why the lockdown isn’t so effective. Joint security team was suggested and mobile court was mentioned to serve as solution.

Saudat Usman, the CEO Saudat Empowerment Foundation in the meeting stated that, more funds need to be released for adequate funding and also to tackle the covid-19 pandemic. She also added that the pandemic is in a way affecting the children as it threatens their academics and continuous learning. She further stated that parents should be sensitized and educated about this pandemic so they take proper care of their children to stay safe.

The Local Government chairman reinstated his commitment to enforce the lockdown so it comes to an end.
