On the 2nd of June 2020, youths of Gwazunu and Gauraka had a clash that led to the death of a young man Vincent Alabi aged 29. Report says he died as a result of gunshots. The Niger State Police command has intensified investigation and peace is been restored. This was made known in a statement issued directly from ASP WASIU A. PRESS RELEASE: REPRISAL ATTACK
On 02/06/2020 at about 1720hrs, there was an attack of some Gauraka youths at Gwazunu area of Suleja LGA Gwazunu youths during a football session which led to loss of a mobile phone of one of the Gauraka youths against the regulations of social distancing, wearing of face mask and washing of hands or using hand sanitizers to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
In an attempt to avenge the attack and loss of phone, on 07/06/2020 at about 1920hrs, Gauraka youths invaded Gwazunu area and one Nura Musa ‘m’ of Angwan Almajiri Gauraka in Tafa LGA was arrested Vigilante members at Gwazunu area of Suleja LGA for mobilizing hoodlums known as “SARA–SUKA” to cause breach of peace in the area and he was taken to Gwazunu Police outpost. Some youths in large numbers quickly mobilized, armed with dangerous weapons such as cutlass, stones, sticks, garrote and Dane gun with intent to lynch the suspect caused pandemonium and disagreement among the crowd, a gunshot was fired from the mob which caused one Vincent Alabi aged 29yrs ‘m’ of Gwazunu area injury. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
During physical examination of the corpse, it was revealed that there was bullet wound on the deceased forehead suspected to have been shot from the earlier shooting. However, the Commissioner of Police CP Adamu Usman has ordered for a thorough investigation of the incident and directed that the case be transfer to SCID Minna, while patrol is intensified in the area to ensure public safety of lives and properties and forestall any breach of public peace.
Finally, all Nigerlites are enjoined to obey the rules and regulations of the lockdown order of the Niger State on COVID-19, even on the ‘’window days’’ of Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays to maintain physical distancing, wearing of face mask and not engage on social activities like marriages and football games, please.
