President Buhari Media Support Group has advised  former VPresident Atiku Abubakar to play fair politics and avoid dragging President Muhammadu Buhari’s name in the mud for political advantage.

It dismissed as baseless and unfounded, the allegations Atiku that Buhari was banned from entering the United States because of his purported extremist religious views. 

The group, in a statement Saturday its chairman, Austin Braimoh, said political leaders should lead example living truthfulness and  avoid spread unfair and unfounded rumours against perceived opponents.

Braimoh said Buhari bore no ill will towards Atiku in the pursuit of his ambition, asking the former vice president to reciprocate that gesture stopping the spread of disinformation against the president. 

He said the group was shocked Atiku’s “curious and spurious allegations”,  saying there was no time Buhari was banned from entering the US or any Western country because of any alleged or perceived extreme religious views. 

“The former Vice President appears to have his facts or information mixed up somewhere. He must be confusing someone else with Buhari,” he stated.

Daily Trust reported that, He said Buhari had enjoyed and continues to enjoy enormous international goodwill, and that he had no reason being in the United Staes after he finished from the War College. 

“Since then, it was on 2016 that he was invited to deliver a lecture at the Woodrow Wilson Center in the United States. He was also at the Chatam House in London, he said. 

Braimoh said Buhari could not have visited a country where he was officially banned because of any so-called extreme religious views. 

He, however, advised the former vice president to publish such record “if he has any.”
