While the rest of the world celebrated Christmas peacefully in Joy, Bwari in Abuja experienced black Christmas.
This was because of the crisis between the indigenous Gbagyi people and the Hausa Fulani that resulted yo the burning of the only market in Bwari, loss of lives and destruction of properties. According to rumours, it is said that the culprits who are Hausa Fulani are culties or machinery used the imposed Ijah Koro as Emir of Bwari to intimidate the indigenes. In order to carry our proper and genuine investigation, the FCT commissioner has redeployed the Bwari DPO. This was revealed in a statement Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf

In search of lasting Peace in Bwari Area Council, the ever listening and commendable Commissioner of Police FCT has redeployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) stationed at Bwari. This is coming amidst calls for his removal to allow for proper investigation into the Christmas Day crisis that led to the complete burning and destruction of Bwari Central market.
I sincerely wish to commend the Commissioner for yielding to the various public outcry against the then DPO.
However, to the peace and loving people of Bwari Area Council and the FCT at large, violence is non profitable act and should be resisted at all cost. The hardship that might befall us if we don’t concede to peace, is capable of living an indelible mark on our communities.
