The former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (APC, Kano Central), has denied a report that he has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
We gathered from daily Trust reports that news yesterday dominated the social media that Kwankwaso and 10 members of the House of Representatives from Kano State had dumped the APC for the PDP.
Kwankwaso refuted the story through his Personal Assistant, Nafiu Umar Dankura, saying he remained in the APC.
“I want to categorically dispel the rumour and fake news that is circulating in some online media and radio stations that distinguished Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has defected to the PDP. This is not true as we all know he played a key role in the formation of the APC and he is still one of the strong pillars of the party,” Dankura said.
He said Kwankwaso, who chaired the Senate Committee on National Planning, had no intention of dumping the APC.
Recall that when asked Daily Trust in June, whether he was contemplating dumping the APC, Kwankwaso said: “I think we should think positive; we are taking the negative side now. It is just like me asking you: “If your employers do this or that, would you leave your place of work?” We should think positive; it depends on how you put it. We are happy now in APC, we are comfortable with our leaders in Abuja and they have not done anything wrong,” he said.
Kwankwaso came second in the presidential primary of the APC ahead of the 2015 general elections.
