The Niger State Police command in a statement released to IAMBESTNETWORKS via the state Police public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Wasiu A. Abiodun said a total of 216 people were arrested for violating Niger State covid-19 order. 204 out of 216 were convicted with various punishments including imprisonment while 12 persons were discharged. NIGER STATE POLICE COMMAND PROSECUTED 204 COVID-19 ORDER VIOLATORS.

Niger State Police Command has prosecuted 204 persons in Minna Mobile Court for violation of COVID-19 ORDER 2020 of the State Government. Offences ranging from driving vehicles during the period of lockdown, organising social events/gathering, lack of wearing face mask, conveying passengers during lockdown and carrying more than the prescribed numbers of passengers required during window period.

The Command arrested 216 persons and charged to court, out of which 204 persons were convicted and awarded punishment ranging from Six months imprisonment or fine of 3000 naira for motorcyclists/tricyclists and 5000 naira for vehicles drivers, while 12 persons were discharged.

The Commissioner of Police hereenjoins the members of the Public, Nigerlites/residents of Minna to continue to be law abiding citizens and ensure further compliance in the interest of Public safety and should see the measure as a mean to curb the spread of COVID-19 and to protect life and property in our dear State.
