Mr Bakare, Zonal Head, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Apapa, was beaten to death suspected okada riders and touts on Thursday, 15th December, 2016. According to PM News, Mr Bakare was killed along Point Road, Apapa  while performing his duties, which included making sure okada riders didn’t ply the restricted major roads.
It is reported that he was attacked angry okada riders who beat him up until he died.

Bashir Braimah, General Manager, LASTMA  confirmed the incident, saying that he was on duty controlling and regulating traffic in Apapa when he was killed.


Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos also confirmed the incident, stating that the official was killed during a mob action. She also revealed that investigations into the crime has began and that people responsible for his death will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law
