A Gombe State Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered a 42-year-old man to be remanded in prison custody over allegation of forgery and sale of fake appointment letters.
The accused person, Yusuf Abba, who resides in Tudun Wada area of Gombe metropolis, was alleged to have forged and issued fake appointment letters to two unsuspecting applicants.
According to the court documents, sometime in June and July 2017, the accused person went to Barrack Street in Deba town of Yamaltu Deba LGA and collected the sum of N140,000 from one Kwatiri Bandita and given her a fake appointment letter of Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga.
The court further heard that the accused had also collected the sum of N120,000 from one Janeth Ali of Nayi Nawa area of Gombe metropolis and subsequently issued her a forged appointment under Funakaye LGA.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Bako Shekari, told the court that the offenses contravened Section 320 of the Penal Code Law. However, the accused person pleaded not guilty when asked the court if the information is true.
Upon his plea, the presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Daurabo Sulaiman Sikam, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to July 19 for hearing.
