The Nigeria we ever wanted : A call for change
As Nigeria grapples with unprecedented economic hardship, insecurity, and mismanagement, it has become imperative for citizens to demand change. Nigerians must unite to express their discontent with the government’s handling of critical issues affecting their lives. The cost of living has skyrocketed, with food and fuel prices becoming increasingly unaffordable. The minimum wage of 70,000 naira is grossly inadequate, failing to match the average monthly expenses of citizens.
Insecurity has reached alarming levels, with bandits and terrorists wreaking havoc across the country. The government’s response has been woefully inadequate, leaving citizens feeling vulnerable and unprotected. The situation is further compounded the fact that those in leadership positions are often looters and political thieves, more interested in enriching themselves than serving the people.
Nigeria’s natural resources, meant to be a blessing, have become a curse. Mineral-rich areas are under attack by-bandits, who occupy and exploit these regions, leaving locals to suffer. The government’s inaction has allowed this situation to persist, denying Nigerians the benefits of their own resources just like Munya LG, Shiroro LG of Niger state, Bukos of Plateau state, Zamfara, Benue State and other areas alike in Nigeria.
The time has come for Nigerians to demand a better nation. We need good policies that create an enabling environment for business and entrepreneurship to thrive. We need leaders who prioritize the welfare of citizens, not just their own interests. We need a Nigeria where food is available for all, scholarships are accessible to young people, and jobs are plentiful.
This is just a reminder that Nigerians deserve better and will no longer tolerate the status quo. We must stand together as Nigerians to demand change, to demand a better Nigeria. The Nigeria our parents told us about, where opportunities were abundant and the future was bright.
I want a Nigeria that works for all, not just the privileged few. I want a Nigeria where every citizen can thrive. It’s our fundamental right to demand change, and it’s only together we can build a better Nigeria.
