Balogun suffered a muscle strain in his club’s 3-2 home loss to Bayer
Leverkusen on Saturday. The injury means he will miss his club’s next
two matches and has also become doubtful for Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup
qualifying clash with Zambia in Ndola. The Russia 2018 game is billed
for October 9.

Mainz confirmed Balogun’s injury status
on their website on Monday with the message, “Balogun will miss the
Zerofivers’ upcoming Europa League fixture against Gabala FC on
Thursday, as well as the weekend’s Bundesliga game against VfL
Wolfsburg.”
