The Bridge Leadership foundation in Abuja on Thursday 30th of November held an intergenerational Dialogue conference with the theme “The Nigeria we want; Bridging Generational Gaps”.
iambest TV present, gathered that The event was graced bythe former President of the federal republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Osita Benjamin the former FRSC marshall who was once minister of aviation, Sen. Liyel Imoke and a host of other guests and young participants.
The former President, Obasanjo in his remarks while talking about leadership said young people should take bold steps in assuming leadership positions because they are the leaders of today and not tomorrow. He also stated that young people should be positively disruptive. The former President added that nobody should act “holier than thou” because we have all done wrong instead, every generation should accept one another and move on to make Nigeria great.
Osita confirmed to newsmen that the former president of Nigeria left about 63 billion dollars in foreign reserve while leaving office in 2007. He further stated that – “we don’t need a new vision because we already know what the Nigeria vision should be. Instead of looking for a new vision, let’s go back to when His Excellency Obsanjo was the president of Nigeria “
The former President while responding to why he abolished the first national anthem said it wasn’t written bya Nigerian and so he signed “Arise O’compatriot…”
The organizers in their vote of thanks said this dialogue was necessary because there is need to build and breed leaders from among young people while gaining knowledge from the older generation. The Bridge Leadership foundation held this event in collaboration with Nigerian Youth Future Fund (NYFF), and LEAP Africa.
