News got to us that South Sudan’s government and several armed groups on Thursday agreed to a ceasefire from December 24 2017, the latest push to end a devastating four-year war in the country.
The African Union chairman Moussa Faki, ahead of the signing of the agreement during peace talks in Ethiopia.
“This is an encouraging first step. You have given a ray of hope back to your people, but it is only a small step.
“Now, practical action is needed.”
