“Sanctify them the truth; your word is truth.”  John 17:17.

There could be many perspective that seeks to expatiates what the word of God is, however, the centre point is the effectiveness in individual life. In the contemporary world, the WORD has been referred only to be the Bible, this is true, but the Bible as a whole is a book just like any other, the hallmark of it is what is contained in it. The WORD is more than just the printed words. Ordinarily, words depicts the personality and power that auras a person, so does the word of God portray who he is.  Let’s briefly look at this word.

*JESUS AS THE WORD*

*In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1*

The above text exposes the starting point, the position and personality of the word. The starting point is THE BEGINNING, which means the word is the first born creation. The position is WITH GOD, which means this word was God-owned and the personality is GOD. This points to the fact that the word is God himself and whenever the word is mentioned in a spiritual context, it is the trinity being.
In Genesis chapter 1, it clearly discusses the creation of the world using the WORD. After sometime, man fell and the only remedy was for God to recreate the universe. God had to use flood during the era of Noah yet, man’s sin couldn’t be fixed. God had to use his instrument of creation (I.e the word used earlier) to recreate man. JESUS was this instrument of creation/recreation (John15:13, John 1:3,14). In essence, the word is the power of creation. No wonder when a man gives his life to Christ, he becomes a new creature, this is because he has encountered the instrument of creation who is Jesus and has been recreated (1cor 5:17). Jesus, the word of God is still recreating till today (Revelation 3:20).

*THE WORD AS A WEAPON*

*Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:17*

*Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17*

*For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4*

Believers have constantly been in the battlefield. We have been hunted till date our enemy, 1peter 5:8 says: Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. The Devil has and will always be restless towards believers. He hunts us as his preys. This draws our consciousness on the vitality of the word. You can’t go into a battle without any weapon, you’ll be attempting suicide to do such a mistake. It is true that we live in a mutilated and obscured world where the word of God is drastically reduced to nothing, no wonder believers no longer win the spiritual warfare. It’s time we wake up and embrace it else we’ll keep being bullied the enemy. God’s word is liken to be a double-edged sword (Hebrew 4:12), we must use it everyday until it becomes a lifestyle. We must pray the word of God, we sing it, think it and live the word. Victory is sure when we can connect to the blood of the word ( the lamb who is Jesus, Rev 12:11). The dragon have threatened us enough, it’s time to fight, fight and continue fighting all out lives (Revelation 12:1-17).

*WHAT THE WORD OF GOD DOES IN OUR LIFE*

√ It lights our paths. Psalm 119:105
√ It helps us not to sin. Psalm 119:11, 2Tim 3:16-17
√ It is our weapon. 2Cor 10:4
√ It is our path. John 14:6
√ It reveals our identity. Matthew 3:17
√ Source of prosperity. Joshua 1:8
√ It is the truth John. 17:17

In conclusion, God desires to commune with us through his word. He also wishes to use it to arm us to stand strong in this fighting world. He earnestly yearns to have you experience Habakkuk 2:14 which say; “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”
The revolution of this text is now.
The word has the ability to change our life positively and make us fulfilled only if we get addicted to it. Like the psalmist said in the 42nd Psalm, will you also pants for God and desire earnestly for him?

Prayer: Lord I desire more of your word. Help me to take you and your word serious everyday. Compel me to find my fulfilment in your word because it is true.
