The wife of the Honourable commissioner of Youths and Sport Niger State, Mrs Maimuna Dangana Duza last weekend empowered the less privileged women of Gurara LGA, Niger State who are petty traders and those who have one skill or the other.

The  empowerment program was a two day program which started on Friday 21st to Saturday 22nd December 2018.

The empowerment program was carried out in collaboration with the State Commissioner of women affairs and social development Barr. Amina Musa Gu’ar and the First Lady of Niger State Dr. Amina Abubakar.
Women irrespective of religion and tribe in Gurara LGA were financially empowered to enhance and help grow their businesses. Mrs Maimuna Dangana Duza stated in her speech that “women should utilize this opportunity with the little stipend given to them to build up their businesses and not to squander the stipend buying unnecessary items.”
She added that
Instead of training or asking women to learn new skills, its better to encourage and support the skills they have already acquired over time so they can expand and do that with passion.
