The Ona of Abaji and chairman of the council of traditional rulers in the FCT, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, yesterday suspended the Madakin Ganagana, Adamu Aliyu, in the area.

The Ona, who stated this through the Madaki of Abaji, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmadu Aguye, while addressing newsmen at his palace, said the palace decided to suspend Aliyu for conferring traditional titles to some Ganagana indigenes of the area.
He said he saw no reason why the Madakin Ganagana would go against the decision of the traditional council to suspend title conferment on individuals.
He said there was a circular issued the FCT minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, that giving traditional titles or appointment of any village chief should be suspended.
“Therefore, this palace has decided to suspend the Madakin Ganagana of Abaji, Aliyu Adamu, for going ahead to turban some people despite  the fact that I have directed that any turbaning of traditional titles be suspended,” he said.
Reacting, the Madakin Ganagana of Abaji, Adamu Aliyu, said he was aware of his suspension when the Ona of Abaji, summoned him for a meeting at his palace on Wednesday.
“It was at the meeting the Ona announced that he had suspended me, but I have nothing to say for now, as I shall consult with those I conferred titles on,” he said.
City News learnt that the Madakin Ganagana had Tuesday at a ceremony, conferred various traditional titles on 22 prominent Ganagana indigenes of the area, including the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya.
