The death of the former Governor Niger StateEngr. A. A. Kure is a huge loss to the Nupe Kingdom, Niger State and Nigeria. He died on Sunday 8th January 2017 in a German Hospital and buried in his house in Minna yesterday, Wednesday. He was the first Governor  of Niger State after military rule in 1999. Because of his demise the Niger State Government declared 3 days mourning and public holiday is to observed from Wednesday to Friday . Activities were ceased including banks, government schools and government offices. Though some private offices were seen carrying out their businesses.
The funeral was attended high profile individuals and Politicians were seen everywhere. His funeral was attended Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, former Kano state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, Former Jigawa state governor Sule Lamido and others.
