The Manchester United latest signing, Alexis Sanchez has clarified his recent comment, where he insinuated that Arsenal’s all-time top goalscorer, Thierry Henry, had told him to leave the club.
He took to his Twitter page this afternoon to address the situation. He wrote;
This comes after he mentioned Henry’s name in his goodbye message, suggesting the Gunners’ all-time top goalscorer had told him to leave.
The Chilean wrote: ‘I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today is my turn.’
Meanwhile, this sparked an outrage among Gunners fans on Twitter, with some of them calling his statue at the Emirate Stadium to be pulled down.
But Henry hit back on Twitter claiming: ‘At no time did I tell Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal. I had no idea he was going to sign for Man Utd until I saw it on the news like the rest of you.’
Alexis Sanchez who will earn £350,000 a week at United over a four-and-a-half-year contract, is expected to make his debut against Yeovil Town in FA Cup clash on Friday.
