The PDP national secretariat staff under the aegis of Staff Welfare Forum
have accused a factional chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff
of using delay tactics to “destroy” the party.
The
staff said Sheriff in his effort at delaying the resolution of the
current leadership crisis bedevilling the PDP has resorted to using the
judiciary to delay quick dispensation of justice.

A
statement signed on Saturday over 40 staff of the party said the
actions of Sheriff and his team showed that he is in alliance and
working for the APC in order to make Nigeria a one-party state.
“We
the PDP staff therefore call on the Chairman of the National Judicial
Council (NJC) and Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN) and the entire
Nigerian Judiciary as the third estate of the realm to live up to its
responsibility to save Nigeria’s democracy and treat the PDP leadership
matter before them with utmost urgency and dedication that it requires.
This
is especially to enable enough time for the PDP to campaign with other
political party in the election and participate actively in the
Saturday, November 26, 2016 governorship election in Ondo State.
Any
member of the party no matter how highly placed working against the
Convention resolution must tread softly or face the party’s disciplinary
committee which has the power to invoke the extant rules and take
necessary measures against such erring members.”
The National Secretariat staff of the party declared that they are all in support of the  resolution
of the May 21, 2016 National Convention of the party in Port Harcourt,
Rivers State, establishing the National Caretaker Committee headed by
Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi.
The forum added that “It
is sad to say the least how some of our party leaders are working
tirelessly with a view to decapitate and destroy the PDP. This is not
acceptable and must stop immediately.”
